Your card will be prepared once your department or the Portfolio of the Civil Service enters your personal data in IRIS.
How will I know that my data has been entered in IRIS?
Check with your Head of Department or the Portfolio of the Civil Service.
If my CINICO card holds incorrect data, who will make the necessary changes?

I am a civil servant. Who updates my personal information?

Does CINICO cover the frames for my eyeglasses?
No. You choose and pay for the frames yourself.
What if I obtain my exam and lenses overseas?
You can be reimbursed, but only if you are eligible.
What do I do if overseas medical care has been authorized for me?
Once the Chief Medical Officer approves your overseas medical treatment through the overseas referral department at the CIHSA, you will be contacted directly by the Overseas Care Management Co-ordinator. Your overseas care appointments will be arranged by the Overseas Care Management Co-ordinator and you will be provided with your detailed medical itinerary prior to your travel date, so you don't have to call anyone. You can visit the overseas overseas referral department office at CIHSA.

A Cayman Airways purchase order for your flight will be issued to you, together with instructions. Ensure that you have valid travel documentation to enter the country where your overseas medical care is being provided.

If I have a medical emergency overseas, what should I do?
Call the Overseas Care Management Co-ordinator on the phone number listed on the back of your CINICO benefit card to obtain a preauthorization for emergency service. They will direct you to the closest hospital emergency room where these services will be paid to the plan benefit maximums.
How can I tell if I am experiencing a medical emergency?
Whether occurring locally or overseas, a medical emergency means a sudden onset of a condition with acute symptoms requiring immediate medical care. It includes such conditions as heart attacks, cardiovascular accidents, poisonings, loss of consciousness or respiration, convulsions, or other such acute medical conditions.
How do I go about obtaining vision benefits?
The optometrist of your choice will make the necessary arrangements to obtain approval for your vision exam and lenses. (Note: CINICO covers exam and lenses once every 24 months).
I am a retired civil servant. Who updates my personal information?
As a retired civil servant, your personal information is updated by the Public Service Pensions Board (PSPB).
How can I add a dependent to my coverage?
All dependent additions and removals to/from CINICO coverage are handled by your Head of Department or the Portfolio of the Civil Service. (Note: CINICO has no ability to add or remove dependents to/from civil service files).
Who do I contact pertaining to the issuance of my Pensioner CINICO Health insurance Benefit card?
You need to contact the Head of Plan Administration at the Public Service Pensions Board.
I will be retiring soon. How long will it take to give me my CINICO pensioner’s card?
The Public Service Pensions Board is responsible for updating all pensioner information provided to them and when they have completed the new card issuance process and CINICO has received the card, you should have your card within 10 days after CINICO has distributed the card to the Pension office.
My children are fulltime students overseas. Do they have access to local and overseas coverage?
Yes; locally at the CIHSA, and overseas, in emergency situations only. CINICO therefore advises that you schedule your children’s routine medical and dental checkups while they are at home in the Cayman Islands during school breaks and vacations.
If my children attend further education overseas, are they still covered by CINICO?
Yes. However, full-time education dependents aged 18 and less than 23 are covered for emergency care only. Covered parents must also produce proof of enrolment and complete a government change in circumstance form.
I have been referred overseas for approved medical treatment by the Chief Medical Officer. Who pays for my transportation and accommodation cost?
Your airfare and accommodations (lodgings, to plan benefit maximum) are covered when receipts are provided with completed claim form. However, you are responsible for the costs of other incidentals.
What if I need an air ambulance?
Should an air ambulance be deemed necessary, the referring physician at the Cayman Islands Hospital will indicate this on the Overseas Transport document.

If approved by the Chief Medical Officer, arrangements to secure an air ambulance provider will be made on your behalf, through CINICO’s overseas 24-hour service.

How do I submit a claim for costs that I had to pay directly?
Complete a CINICO claim form, available at the CINICO office at the Cayman Centre, or you may acquire a claim form at their website, www.cinico.ky

Submit your completed form to CINICO, together with all supporting invoices showing proof of payment. Keep copies of your submitted claim form and invoices.

If I am no longer employed by the Cayman Islands Government, can I still have the same CINICO coverage?
Coverage terminates on the first day of the month following the date of termination of civil service employment. However if you do not become compulsorily insured with any other employer, cover under your CINICO policy may continue for three months from the date of termination of employment or until you become employed, whichever is earlier. You will be responsible for the monthly premium payment for those three months or until you become employed.
